George Russell gana el Gran Premio de Canadá 2025 con un doble podio para Mercedes

Victoria en Montreal: el equipo logra un doble podio

George Russell se alzó con la victoria en el Gran Premio de Canadá, mientras que Kimi Antonelli completó el éxito del equipo al finalizar en tercer lugar. Este triunfo marca la cuarta victoria de Russell en la Fórmula 1 y representa el primer podio para Antonelli, quien se convierte así en el tercer piloto más joven en la historia del deporte en alcanzar una posición entre los tres primeros.

Además, esta victoria significa el triunfo número 130 de Mercedes en Grandes Premios. Ambos pilotos adoptaron una estrategia de dos paradas utilizando neumáticos Medium-Hard-Hard; partiendo desde las posiciones P1 y P4, lograron ascender a P1 y P3 tras la primera vuelta, cuando Kimi superó a Oscar Piastri en la curva tres.

A partir de ese momento, George controló la carrera desde la delantera, gestionando tanto sus neumáticos como su ritmo para cruzar la meta por delante de Max Verstappen. Por su parte, Kimi presionó a Verstappen en múltiples ocasiones, acercándose a lograr el segundo puesto durante un intento de sobrepaso. Sin embargo, no logró mantener la tracción necesaria para sostener esa posición.

En las etapas finales de la carrera, Kimi defendió con éxito su posición ante el McLaren de Oscar Piastri hasta que un Safety Car tardío concluyó el Gran Premio. Con este resultado, el equipo asciende al segundo lugar en el Campeonato de Constructores antes del doble encabezado Austria-Great Britain.

Reacciones tras la carrera

George Russell:
I am really pleased to take the team’s first victory of the season. I felt in control throughout and was able to manage the race to bring home the win. With the slightly higher temperatures, we thought we may struggle a little more than we saw on Friday. We did a good job of managing the tyres though and had the pace to hold off the chasing pack. A big well done and thank you to everyone at Brackley and Brixworth and a massive congratulations to Kimi on taking his first of what I am sure will be many podiums.

Kimi Antonelli:
That was a very intense and stressful race! I am really happy to take my first podium in F1 though. The start was the key to achieving that. I managed to get track position on Piastri and that enabled us to show our pace. At moments I was able to catch Verstappen and put him under pressure. In the final stint, I think I pushed a little too hard in the early stages and that made it difficult near the end. I was able to defend from the McLarens though and bring the car home in P3.
